You are considered a first-year student if you have not yet graduated from high school or have not yet completed any college courses since high school graduation at the point of application for admission.
College credit earned while in high school — through Running Start, 高中的大学, 其他加速程序, or coursework at a local college or university — does not place you in the “transfer student” category. First-year students follow the application procedures below:
- 完成通用申请 一年级的应用程序 and submit it to 本科招生 along with your $50 nonrefundable application fee and the required SPU member section.
- During the first semester of your senior year, arrange for an official transcript to be sent by your most recent high school and any high schools previously attended, unless your current high school transcript provides previous coursework, credits, and grades. 如果你选择参加SPU, you must also request that a final transcript be sent to 本科招生 by August 1.
- If you have completed college coursework while in high school and the coursework appears on your high school transcript, you are not required to submit official transcripts from the institutions of higher education when you apply for admission. 然而, in order to receive advanced standing credit and to be placed in the correct first-quarter classes, you should request that all colleges and universities you have attended send official transcripts to SPU 本科招生 before registering for classes during New Student Advising.
- Take either the College Board Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT-I) (SPU代码4694) 或美国大学考试 (ACT) (SPU code 4476) and submit the scores to SPU.
- You have the option to submit a Teacher Evaluation form 透过通用申请. 另外, your college counselor can add remarks to the School Report when submitting your transcript. Both forms are part of the First-Year Common Application.

英语语言能力
All students must have a good command of the 英语 language to be academically successful at SPU. You are considered a native 英语 speaker if 英语 is your first language or if both your primary and secondary education took place in Australia, 加拿大(魁北克除外), 英国, 爱尔兰, 新西兰, 或者是美国.S. (波多黎各除外).
无论公民身份如何, if you are not considered a native 英语 speaker you may be required to demonstrate 英语 proficiency through one of the means listed on the 英语语言能力 Requirement page. If demonstration of 英语 proficiency is necessary, you will be notified by 本科招生.
国际学生 are required to demonstrate 英语 proficiency through one of the means listed under 英语语言能力 in the 国际学生 section of this catalog, unless they meet one of the criteria listed above for native 英语 speakers.
